Gakutei Urabe Student Diner

Most Japanese universities have cafeterias which serve substantial meals at very reasonable prices. And, if you venture out into the area around the university, you’re certain to discover a variety of restaurants which attract students with cheap but tasty meals.

Saga is no exception and Urabe is a prime example of this type of restaurant for the hard working student. The word “Gakutei” which comes at the beginning of the shop’s name, literally means “meals for students”.

The bulletin board is covered with notices of interest to students.

The strong flavor of the sauce complements the white rice. It’s sure to satisfy the hungriest of students!

The restaurant also serves halal chicken curry for the benefit of foreign exchange students!
They have a slightly unusual payment system. Simply pop your bill and money in the box on your way out!

Naturally, the restaurant is not restricted to students and everyone is welcome.
