A Full Course of Saga Vegetables! Timer California Kitchen

We invite you to please stop by Timer California Kitchen as you stroll alongside the Matsubara River, directly behind historic Saga Shrine.
Trained overseas, Chef Takaoka creates delicious California cuisine using a variety of locally sourced vegetables.

Beginning with the appetizer and ending with dessert, the “Saga Yasai Course” (“Saga Vegetable Course) features a multitude of fresh vegetables harvested in Saga. Dressings and sauces are added to enhance the taste of the vegetables. For example, various nuts and spices have been added to the salad pictured below:

Turnips are slow-roasted and lightly seasoned to bring out their natural sweetness.

Pancetta features in this risotto dish garnished with garland chrysanthemums. Primarily eaten in East Asia, the leaves and stems of garland chrysanthemums are edible, and possess a distinct aroma and bitterness. The fat and salt of the pancetta soften the bitterness of the garland chrysanthemum, resulting in a wonderful blend of flavors.

This particular menu is from January.
Since vegetables are harvested according to the season, you can experience a different taste of Saga each time you come!
