Pumpkin spice and Halloween mood in Japan

Don’t get me wrong – I am neither a devoted fan of Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, nor a member of a secret and (presumably) elite Orange Sleeve Society. Oh, I just found out that they are already out of orange cup cozies! Pumpkin Spice Latte or any other kinds of pumpkin drinks do not make my heart race. Pumpkin spice

I simply don’t understand why almost every coffee shop in Tokyo added orange-colored drinks to their menu, but Starbucks Japan remains as unshakeable as ever. Pumpkin spice

Starbucks Japan only added many Starbucks Halloween items like mug cups, tumblers and pumpkin sandwiches.Pumpkin spiceTheir seasonal tea and coffee version is Fruit Crush. I had my tea at Omohara Starbucks branch.Maybe they feel that it’s too much of a hassle to use fresh pumpkin puree? Or maybe they are just making us want it so badly? Then when Starbucks will finally start making Pumpkin Spice Latte in Japan, it will be sold like hotcakes. Who knows? I might order it only once just to decide if I like it or not. Of course I have tried their convenience store version called Pumpkin Pie Latte once. You know, to get in the mood for fall.Pumpkin Spice

In the meanwhile, Halloween frenzy in Tokyo is reaching its peak. Good old Jack-o’-Lantern, ghosts, witches, black cats, haunted houses, spiders and cobwebs, skeletons and bats never sleep!

They are practically everywhere, starting with the paper coffee cups at convenience stores and ending with the doctor’s/dentist’s office.

But no matter how many signs of the spooky holiday are around us, most Japanese couldn’t care less about Halloween. After all, we all know that it’s just business. Pumpkin beer, anyone? Now you can get it not only at the supermarket with foreign goods. This one is available at Peacock supermarket now.Pumpkin spice
