Myogi Shrine (妙義神社) is just a stone’s throw from Komagome Station.Myogi ShrineMyogi ShrineIt is incredibly tiny but the adjacent children’s park balances things out and makes for a nice place to have lunch or enjoy cherry blossoms in sunny weather. Or watch sakura snow in April. If you are lucky, and smart enough to wear rubber boots, you may find yourself in a magical place. I did. Everything at Myogi Shrine was pink and beautiful, although a tad wet.Myogi ShrineIn the end I even felt chilly, but luckily I had brought a big warm rice ball with me. Usually I consume with a local cat carefully watching me, but lets face it, cats are not happy to stay outside in a bad weather.Myogi ShrineA part of Komagome was known as Somei area in Edo period. Numerous superior hybrids of cherry blossoms were invented here, such as Somei-Yoshino (named after the name of the village). The most renowned plant nurseryman of that time was Ihei Ito.Myogi ShrineMyogi Shrine
