International Robot Exhibition 2015: Cute and useful robots will change our future

In Japan robots tend to be cute. Not all, of course, but many of them are a tribute to the culture of kawaii.International Robot Exhibition 2015

I wasn’t looking forward to the International Robot Exhibition 2015 at Tokyo Big Sight. In fact, I didn’t even know it was going to be held this year. And then I just accidentally saw the poster. It wasn’t very promising, with the picture of a child and a robot resembling old dinosaur. But the very thought of seeing the latest models of robots almost made me scream with excitement.International Robot Exhibition 2015

We went to the International Robot Exhibition 2015 in the end of the last day. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too crowded. There were two halls: with industrial robots and with service robots.

At first, my husband took me to the industrial robot zone. My primary goal was to see as many cute service robots as possible. Nevertheless, I truly admired the speed, precision and power of many industrial models. I even found one or two robots with faces. This one was made by NACHI.International Robot Exhibition 2015

Most of them can replace human labor force in the future, and some already did. I’m not sure whether it is 100% good, but it means that people will be able to concentrate on other jobs/activities.International Robot Exhibition 2015When I finally got to the service robot zone, I didn’t know where to run. It was full of interesting, intriguing, extremely busy robots. They were dancing, talking, playing football, posing for photos, and doing other various things.
