[Indonesian] HALAL and Karaoke. An Awesome Combination!

As a Moslem, will it be difficult for me to live in Japan? That was my main worry before coming to Japan. What I found was that I do not have any difficulties living here, even in Karaoke.

Typically, Indonesians love to sing, and we love Karaoke.

Yesterday, I was invited to try Halal food in Manekineko Karaoke at Yotsuya Sanchome in Tokyo by the management of the shop. Of course, it is hard for me to refuse a Karaoke invitation. So, I went along and took my wife and son with me. We met two other Indonesians there. Manekineko Karaoke welcomed us and directed us to one of their karaoke rooms. The large screen television, a good sound system and furniture were very convenient for Karaoke.

As is usual in Karaoke, we had to order food and drinks.

But I was really surprised. There were HALAL dishes on the menu! The HALAL foods in Manekineko Karaoke have been certified by the Japan Halal Standards MHC Co. Ltd.

The manager explained that the dishes were not only without pork or any haram meat, but were also cooked and prepared following Halal methods. They separate the halal cooking equipment from that of other foods. Wow! I was very happy to hear that. One food that really interested me was Halal Ramen. I cannot eat ramen in a normal ramen shop because, even if there is no pork meat in it, the soup usually contains pork fat.

Without thinking twice, I ordered Halal Ramen. And… umhh…Oishii… it was very delicious. This cured my curiosity of Japanese ramen.

During Karaoke, it was Dhuhur time. I asked a member of staff if they had an empty room I could use to pray. Guess what? They have a praying room for Moslem guests. Wow! Again, I was amazed. This is very important for me as a Moslem, so I can pray on time.  If I go to Karaoke here, I will not have to worry about praying.

I highly recommend this Karaoke to foreigners, especially Moslems.

To get there, just take the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi line to Yotsuya Sanchome station (not Yotsuya station) and take exit No. 1. The Karaoke building is on the south side of Yotsuya sanchome station.

It is also not far from Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden Tokyo.

Well, good luck!
