Hyaqtoh Komagome – A quiant little Czech-themed cafe with high-end coffee

There is a coffee shop and roastery in Komagome called Hyaqtoh that will impress you with its refinement and excellent but pricey coffee beans.HyaqtohA visit there is a real treat with high-end coffee, not a quick way to get you morning coffee fix. Your attention will be completely absorbed by classical music, books in Czech and Spanish, and coffee tools around you.HyaqtohHyaqtoh

As if it isn’t enough, you will also see a big red coffee roasting machine, big jars with coffee beans, and classy furniture.HyaqtohHyaqtoh

I flicked through a book about Prague  found out that it is often called a ‘City of 100 towers’. Hyaqtoh (百塔) means ‘100 towers’ in Japanese.HyaqtohMy cup of drip coffee, Hyaqtoh blend for 500 yen, had a rich, deep taste. Actually, it was so strong that 3 hours later I still experienced a caffeine rush. 8 hours later I was lying awake in my bed, contemplating life. I also deeply regretted not ordering a latte instead. But it just didn’t sound right – that fine Bohemian Zwiebelmuster (Blue Onion) porcelain, wasn’t created for serving fancy modern drinks.HyaqtohOnly classic drinks should be served in this fine china from Saxony with vivid floral motives, which started out as an imitation of famous Chinese tableware but then became uniquely European.HyaqtohI could have spent all day there, looking at elaborate coffee equipment or flipping through books on art, but it was time to go home.Hyaqtoh

Hyaqtoh has two stores in Komagome, but only this one is obviously intended for real old-style connoisseurs (and is closer to the subway station).
