Have coffee with Mr. Mark at Canvas Tokyo, a conceptual coffee shop in Hiroo

These days nobody goes to cafes just because they exhibit art and serve good lattes. But what if I told you that Canvas Tokyo has Nico donuts, flat whites, cups with a cute guy called Mr. Mark, stylish white interior (think lots of ideas for your Instagram), and a view on Hiroo shopping street?CanvasAnd occasionally they do have exhibitions.Canvas

As for me, it is a great opportunity to skip a trip to Kagurazaka or other renowned flat white spots in Tokyo when I feel like drinking this caffeinated drink from New Zealand.CanvasCanvas opened in Hiroo in October 2015, replacing Maui Coffee Roasters. I am not completely sure about their VIP policy and I doubt I will become a member soon (we need 30 stamps for that), but it seems that non-members can’t enter the second floor at some occasions (lunch, art presentations), and get to pay 30 yen more for their orders.CanvasI’ve heard that if the barista is not busy, he will create any latte art you prefer. It wasn’t crowded when we visited, and my friend ordered a smoothie, but the staff never asked me what design would I like to see in my cup of flat white. Anyway, I loved the rippled tulip latte they poured me in Canvas Tokyo.CanvasAl in all, Canvas Tokyo merits a visit if you are in the mood to do some shopping at National Azabu or take a walk in Arisugawa Park. It is a perfect place off the beaten track for restoring your energy, and you may feel like strolling in Ebisu area after that.Canvas
