Bubby’s Yaechika: A pie paradise in Tokyo Station

Ask me what my favorite comfort food is and I will answer without a hint of hesitation – pies. Pies are a perfect food for a windy autumn day or a snowy winter day, for a sunny spring day or a hot summer day. Yes, I can eat pies even when Japanese summer is in its peak. The reason is very simple: there are so many kinds of pies, hot and cold, sweet and savory, that no person on Earth can possibly ever get tired of them. In summer I never bake anything and find my solace at American cafe and restaurant Bubby’s. To be honest, I almost never bake pies and go to eat them at Bubby’s. Actually, in 1990 in Manhattan it started out as a wholesale pie shop.Bubby's YaechikaCooking everything from scratch and using traditional family recipes are the features of Bubby’s that lure me. At any Bubby’s in Tokyo you can always eat a large, hearty American breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Or enjoy a piece (or two) of delicious pies with a cup of coffee or other drink of your choice at teatime for a meager fare of 850 yen.

They have Michigan sour cherry pie, Mile high apple pie, Pecan maple pie, Key lime pie to name but a few.Bubby's YaechikaThis time I skipped the pumpkin pie and went with another fall classics – Pecan maple pie. As you can see, there was a very generous dollop of whipped cream, which mystically balanced out the sweetness of maple syrup. Bubby's Yaechika

Of course, you can always take out your pies and savor them in the comfort and coziness of your home.
