Are you a fan of manga who also happens to have a sweet tooth? Here’s the place you definitely need to go – Atom Bakery in Yanaka Ginza. The small street in Taito Ward is known not only for its cats and old buildings. It is also a place for delicious and economical snacks. And Osamu Tezuka’s Mighty Atom (鉄腕アトム, Tetsuwan Atomu), or Astroboy.Atom Bakery

You will see him at the bakery Atomu (明富夢), a little French-style bakery. The owners stick to the original French recipes to make perfect bread and sweets.Atom BakeryIf you are really interested in the making of cheese croissants, check out the photos on their website. Of course, they also sell sliced pizza, toast bread, and what not.

Highly prized by French people, Atom bakery is featured in many guidebooks. Japanese newspapers and magazines also wrote about it countless times.Atom Bakery

Their oven is made of volcanic rocks from Mount Fuji.Atom BakeryOpened in 2000, the bakery is really tiny (just as Astro Boy is) and does not have an eat-in space. So you will be able to enjoy your purchase next morning, with a pot of freshly-brewed coffee and your favorite jam. Or, if you are anything like me, on your way home from Yanaka Ginza!Atom BakeryAstro Boy was created in 1952, but is still popular not only in Japan.
